The moment she heard her husband had been shot, her world split in two. Grief crushed her to the floor, even as two small children still needed their mother. In the chaos, she begged God for one impossible miracle: a final life from the man she’d just lost. Her confession stunned even the intervi…
In the months since her husband’s killing, Erika Kirk has learned how grief can hold terror and tenderness in the same breath. One day she is collapsed on the floor, gasping out the name of Jesus, unable to comprehend the violence that stole her partner. The next, she is on the living room rug, laughing weakly with her children as family photos watch from the walls, a fragile, “divinely planted” joy flickering where only pain had lived.
What shocked many was her raw admission about the future she’d been planning. She and her husband had dreamed of four children, a loud, overflowing home. After he was murdered, she found herself praying she was pregnant, hoping a new life might rise from catastrophe. It was a desperate wish for one last piece of him to remain, a way to anchor love in a world that had suddenly come apart.
